The legal needs of your employees, association or union members may vary, but they’ll range from simple advice to estate planning, identity theft, civil or criminal actions, consumer protection, juvenile matters, divorce or adoptions.

Yet, more than 80% of employees agree they do not seek the advice of lawyers because they have no way of knowing which lawyer is competent to handle their legal matter. Many employees that are faced with legal issues don’t seek help because they are worried about the expense.

TLPP is a non-profit corporation that only conducts
business within the State of Texas

  • By limiting our scope to groups within the State of Texas we can keep our rates well below what other legal plans charge.
  • TLPP works very closely with the State Bar in an effort to ensure that all Texans have access to the legal system.
  • TLPP provides freedom of choice, whereby the participant can utilize a participating attorney or elect to utilize a non-participating attorney.
  • Members covered by TLPP have direct access to the attorney and their legal issues remain confidential.
  • Finally, there are no deductibles or co-pays and with the exception of divorce coverage (6 months), there are no waiting periods to use any of the benefits of the plan.

Even in this economy, attorney rates can range on average from $200-300 per hour. According to the American Psychological Association (APA):

  • One in four workers has taken a mental health day off from work to cope with stress.
  • 73% of Americans name money as the number one factor that affects their stress level.

According to the SHRM 2009 Benefits Survey:

Because of the recent economic events, 46% of employees are taking a greater interest in understanding the benefits they receive through the workplace. With employees now paying more attention to these benefits, there is an opportunity for organizations to help a more engaged workforce fully understand all of their options and the true value of their benefits package.

Employees consistently rate benefits as one of the key factors in employee job satisfaction. It is important for an employee benefits package to be attractive to both current and prospective employees as well as cost-effective, especially in this economic downturn.

There are many other legal insurance plans out there. How do they differ from TLPP?

  • The vast majority of other legal plans operate on a for-profit basis and offer plans to individuals as well as groups. As a result, their plans generally cost significantly more as they have shareholders to pay and costly overhead to manage.
  • Virtually all other plans have co-pays and deductibles.
  • Many of these legal plans have waiting periods that must be satisfied before the benefits can be utilized.
  • They have no out-of-network benefits and they assign you to an attorney of their choosing. In some cases, an attorney is provided only after you provide the details of your situation to their designated "gate keeper".
